K-9

K-9 Sergeant Thor served for 5 years with the Phillips County Sheriff’s Department. Prior to this, he served for 2 years with Helena-West Helena Police Department. During his career, he’s been responsible for 787 narcotic related arrests, has 99.8% conviction rate, assisted in 48 apprehensions, and helped locate 5 lost people safely. Originally named Lexor, Thor was renamed upon completion of the Little Rock K9 Academy. Nationally certified through a drug beat out of Missouri, Thor has served in multiple roles, as patrol K9, trained for tracking, apprehensions and 5 types of narcotics (heroin, marijuana, crack cocaine, powder cocaine and methamphetamine) Also used for demonstrations for all schools in the county and searching many buildings, residential and businesses after break ins, Thor is the most productive and successful K9 unit Phillips County has ever had by far. Described by his partner, Deputy William Bender, as a friend and family member, he lived to do his job.

Thor passed away as a result of heat stroke on June 30, 2018. He gave his life for the citizens of our county keeping drugs and dangerous criminals off the streets.

Our Department recognizes and honors K-9 Sergeant Thor as a Phillips County Sheriff’s Department Outstanding Officer.
